Alesha Thompson is taking control of her health; she is reducing her known risk of breast cancer to nearly zero. Hillcrest Medical Center’s Advanced Wound Center was given the Center of Distinction award by Healogics®. This means the Advanced Wound Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including a patient satisfaction rate higher than 92 percent. 

Michelle Stone-Moore, BA/BSN-RN, MTh has been the program director at the Advanced Wound Center since December 2021. She said the award criteria also includes comprehensive heal rates and outlier rates in patients who need wound care for longer than 14 weeks (about three months).

Perri Craven, M.D., is the medical director of Kaiser Rehabilitation Center at Hillcrest Medical Center. She has been with Hillcrest since 2011 when she and her team established neurological rehabilitation services at Kaiser. 

“When I came, we really didn’t have much of a neurological population here,” said Dr. Craven. “We helped to build Kaiser Rehab into a neuro rehab program and helped build the stroke team. Anything between concussion and severe brain injury is what we take care of here.”

During Patient Experience Week (April 23-29), we’re spotlighting patient experience coordinator Vickie Barrett. Barrett started at Hillcrest in 2013, working as a senior care coordinator before her role evolved to focus on patient experience. Her work takes her all over the hospital, helping connect patients and families to services and providers throughout the Hillcrest HealthCare System.
